Just Some Thoughts...

I saw a movie about four months ago that moved me so much that I wanted to talk about it. It's called "Once". It's a movie about an Irish street musician struggling to just continue doing what he loves, playing music. I don't want to give anything away to anyone who hasn't seen it, so seriously watch it. Especially if you're a musician trying to make it; working day in and day out to pursue your passion in music. I really believe it will move you. My wife and I just got back from watching a Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova concert in Portland, Oregon (they're the stars in the film, but are also real musician's). They have a real band called The Swell Season. It was so brilliant. Everything they're doing right now just speaks to me about letting things be what they are with my music. About having hope for my career and believing in this journey I've been on for the last 12 years, this journey my family and I have been on. Having family and friends is so important for an artist. It's funny because I know a lot of people would say different. They'd say it's best not to be "tied down", etc. but I've come to learn that the opposite is true. To be real with others and ourselves we have to be grounded. I love it that I have a family and people in my life that make me remember it's not about me. Life is more than the things we strive to attain, it's about what we already have and sometimes take for granted.
Ok, that's my deep thought for now...sorry to ramble. Do seriously watch the movie ONCE though.
God bless you guys.
